Ostrzegali przed objazdami i złymi drogami. Oznacza to pobudkę o 4:00.

Takie Las Vegas Kazachstanu. Miasto Ałmaty jest potężne. Grubo ponad milion mieszkańców, tramwaje, trolejbusy, autobusy, nawet metro.

A mając dwa dni wszystko zdąży wyschnąć. Pranie zrobione.

A buty dobre bo Daytona Road Star. A temperatura powietrza w okolicach 40 stopni.

Day 37
586km, Usharal – Alma-Ata

Today we passed a long distance but had nothing to see. The motorcyclists we met before told us that today’s road will be hard and slow due to reconstruction works. They warned us of diversions and poor roads. We were a bit afraid and decided to set off at the sunrise, around 5.30a.m. It means that we must wake up at 4a.m. It will be dark still but the plan is the most important. I don’t like coming to a city in the evening and going to my bed immediately because it’s late. What happened? The road was quite pleasant and the diversions were made, indeed, but they were easy. The fact is that the works were performed for 150km.

Around 70km before Alma-Ata, we can see the artificial lake Kapchagay (Kapchagay Reservoir). Our time was good so we stopped for a bath. A gorgeous refreshment, the heat was awful. Then the city of Kapchagay, a home to many casinos. The Kazakh Las Vegas. Alma-Ata is huge. Much more than one million inhabitants. Trams, buses, even a metro. And snow-covered mountains dominate the city. This is the Tian-Shan.

We found our hotel, booked via the Internet. We did it without any problems. It’s class is better and the price is higher because we are going to spend two days here. It’s wonderful. The room is magnificent, with a balcony, the laundry is included in the price. This is important because in spite of the fact that we wash some basic clothes every day, we should use a washing machine from time to time. Additionally we must wash our trousers and jacket and it’s not so easy. And our laundry will be dry because we have two free days. The washing is done. Andrzej went to a shop to buy cold beer. I don’t have to describe this feeling, everybody knows what I mean – it’s delicious. The weather is still hot so we decided that a two-hour nap will be enough.

Today I blistered my feet in the boots for the first time. But the boots are good – Daytona Road Star. Unfortunately our speed on these diversions and near the city was small and the cylinders were extremely hot. Even the bath couldn’t save the legs although it was very helpful. So I’m using an Alantan cream.

We went to sleep for two hours. Then went for a supper. Andrzej ordered a piece of mutton, encouraged by the yesterday’s taste, and I took a steak with fries.
