Zero km, Almaty
Dzień leniucha. Mieliśmy spać do południa ale udało się tylko do 7. Potem potężne śniadanie. Następnie fryzjer. I od razu poczułem się lepiej. Jeszcze tylko drzemka przed południem i idziemy na miasto.
Po mieście chodziliśmy chyba z 7 godzin i zrobiliśmy 19 km. Poznaliśmy całą okolicę i większe ulice. Są bardzo bogate dzielnice, dzielnice biznesu, hoteli. Tam jest światowo, samochody z najwyższej półki. Ludzie uśmiechnięci, dobrze ubrani. Pochodziliśmy też po biedniejszych, starszych dzielnicach. Jest skromniej ale dramatu nie ma.
Na ulicach królują samochody Kia i Toyota. Z Toyoty prym wiodą Land Cruiser i Camry. Samochodów niemieckich jest mało. W mieście widać co jakiś czas niemieckie samochody nowe, ale poza miastem to jest istny niemiecki dom starców. Jeżdżą samochody, które lubiłem jako dziecko. Mają ponad 30 lat, Audi, Mercedesy, VW. Natomiast samochody ze wschodu przeważnie nowe.
W mieście ruch przebiega płynnie, jest trochę trąbienia ale mało. Sygnalizacja na skrzyżowaniach działa zawsze i do tego pokazywany jest czas w sekundach trwania danego światła. Tak samo dla pieszych. To znacznie usprawnia ruch i aż się prosi, żeby to wprowadzić w całej Polsce.

Day 38
Zero km, Alma-Ata
A lazy day. We wanted to sleep until noon but woke up at 7a.m. Then a huge breakfast and a visit to a barber. I felt better at once. Just a short nap before noon and we will go to the city.
We walked around the city for about seven hours and made 19km. Visited all the neighborhood and bigger streets. There are rich districts, business quarters and hotel areas. These are modern places with the most luxurious cars. People are smiling and well-dressed. We also walked around the poorer and older districts. These areas are more modest but it’s not a tragedy.
Kias and Toyotas dominate the streets. Land Cruisers and Camries are the most popular models of Toyota. German cars are in the small minority. Sometimes you can see new German cars in the streets but outside the city people drive old German junks. The beloved models of my childhood. They are more than 30 years old, Audi, Mercedes, VW, while the cars from the east are usually new.
The traffic in the city flows freely, you can hear some beeping but just a little. Traffic lights on crossings are always active and show how long a light will be on (in seconds). The same case is with the lights for pedestrians. It improves significantly the traffic and I want it to be installed in the whole Poland.
